28 April 2007 Rosemary Ashton

Position: GS or GA
Team:    Under 17A Merlins I Team

Rosemary plays in our Merlins I , Under 17A Team who are in section one of the Christchurch Under 17 competition. Rosemary's team is coached by Christopher O'Connor. The team lost on Saturday by only 2 goals. A fantastic effort for the girls. Rosemary played an outstanding game with a 100% goal shooting success. A pupil in year 12 at Papanui High School, Rosemary has been a player with our club since she left intermediate school. Her older sister, Katie played with the club until she left Papanui High last year. Well done Rosemary!

5 May 2007 Sarah Luckman

Position: GD and GK
Team:    Senior A team- Merlins Express Cargo Ltd Team

Sarah is at Lincoln University where she is studying a Batchelor of Recreation Management majoring in sport. Sarahs hometown is Greymouth and since shifting to Christchurch has been a valued member of our club. Sarah has coached for us for two years and this year is one of our most valuable and talented players in our Senior A team.

12 May 2007 Michaela Neave

Team:    Under 13A Merlins R Team

This is Michaelas second year playing for Merlins and she has just gone from strength to strength. Michaela is in our Under 13A team . They have had a terriffic start to the season with three excellent games already. They are coached by Chrissie McKee and Danielle Tillman. Michaela likes to play Goal Shoot the best but also plays wing attack at times. A pupil at Breens Intermediate she enjoys lots of sports and of course, shopping at the mall!

19 May 2007 Chelsea Gardier

Team:    Under 14B Merlins P Team

Great defensive work, gives her position 100 % effort, willing to try other positions and all round commitment to the team. Chelsea has played Future Fern netball for Cotswold School and this is her third season for Merlins. She is in her first year at Papanui High. Chelsea is a delightful team member - well done Chelsea.

26 May 2007 Tahirah Fon

Team:    Under 12C Merlins W Team

This is Tahirah¿s first year playing for Merlins. Tahirah is at Breens Intermediate this year after finishing her primary schooling at Christ the King School in Burnside. She absolutely loves netball especially playing centre although she also likes to play WA or WD positions. Netball is not the only sport Tahirah excels at, she also enjoys long distance running and has competed in The City to Surf along with a love for horse riding. We are really enjoying having you as a member of our club Tahirah and like you, we are all looking forward to having your younger sister Sorayya join us as well. An awesome game on Saturday! Keep it up!

02 June 2007 Michaela Smalley

Team:    Under 17B Merlins J Team

Michaela Has been playing for merlins for three years and in that time we have enjoyed watching her game and her abilities and skills impove steadily. Although she plays mostly at GD Michaela can play in just about every position we put her in and is always happy to go where she is needed most. Michaela absolutely loves her netball and also plays indoor for her school, Papanui High" during the summer months. A great game on Saturday, well done!

09 June 2007 Amber Lilley

Team:    Under 15B Merlins N Team

This is Ambers first year at playing for Merlins. She got dragged into playing by her mate Tiana.She is in the Merlins N U15. What a find she is a awesome Goal Shoot. The last time Amber played netball was when she was in Yr 5 & 6 in Nelson. Other than that she has played basketball in Blenhiem. Amber loves sport, eating and boys. She goes to Papanui High. She is coached by Tiana's mum Fiona which can be a drag as she had to play for the oldies last sat as they were short, she was a life saver for them. As they only lost by one goal through Ambers awesome shooting. Amber is a delight to have in the team we love the facial expressions and the innocent looks when she is trying to not get caught out, in her aggressive play.

16 June 2007 Grace Brown

Team:    University of Canterbury Under 19 Team

Grace has been playing for Merlins for three years now and is a popular member of our Under 19 Team. The entire Under 19 team played an flawless game on Saturday winning against St Margarets College 34 to 6 but Grace wins the award for shutting down their tall GA in the goal. This player was so tall she could practically place the ball in the hoop but she couldn't get near! Awesome game Grace!

23 June 2007 Paige Vincent

Team:    Under 15A Merlins M Team

Paige has been a valuable member of this team since joining us from a Marian College team two years ago. Paige usually plays GK but just recently we have discovered that she has a talent for shooting as well. This season Paige has been joined at Merlins by her older sister, Jasmin who plays in our Under 17A team, obviously a talented family!

30 June 2007 Helen Crombie

Position:WA
Team:    Senior 2A Merlins E Team

Helen is a nurse at Christchurch Hospital in the burns/plastics unit. She is in her second season with the club and plays WA for Merlins E. Helen is a consistent and dependable Wing Attack every week with brilliant feeding into the shoots. She had another awesome game on Saturday with brilliant driving and defending off the ball which brought them a well deserved 34-21 win over Marist Albion U

21 July 2007 Taylor Hope

Team:   University of Canterbury Merlins U19 Team

Taylor has been a member of our club for five years when she came to Merlins with the Homeschooling team. She loves netball and would play everyday if she could! Taylor has played an active role in the club coaching and umpiring as well as playing. She is training as an Early Childhood teacher. Excellent games on Saturday Taylor, well done!

28 July 2007 Rachael McGeorge

Team:   Merlins Uner 14C Team

Rachael has been a valuable and popular member of our club for the last three years. She is a Papanui High school pupil in Year 9 . Rachael likes to play squash and also plays bass guitar and drums. She loves her netball and her favourite positions are GD and GK. Rachael had an excellent game on Saturday, she played hard the entire game , gave a 100% and never stopped fighting to win.
